Monhegan Island Birds & Nature
Join CFW for four days and three nights on the magical Monhegan Island - located 12 miles off of mid-coast Maine. With two expert guides (Dan Gardoqui & Phil Brown), we'll explore the island with curiosity, wonder and a good dose of "nature geeking" as we seek to learn about this mysterious place. From early morning bird walks in the village to lazy afternoon strolls along the cliffs or mossy, deep forests, we'll tap into the lives of migratory and resident birds as well as other island inhabitants. This is not a trip where we'll focus solely on the quantity of bird species we'll see, but more a trip about slowing down and tuning into what the more-than-human-world has to offer us each day. That said, a very birdy spring day on Monhegan Island can turn up over 20 species of warblers!
Important Notes:
-
Clients must book & pay for their own lodging using this link at the Monhegan House. Please do not book elsewhere, as we'll be sharing morning meals together there.
-
This experience involves walking multiple miles each day, often on uneven ground. Most rooms in the Monhegan House also require walking up and down stairs.
